Join our matchday team as a volunteer Stadium PA Announcer.
Banbury United Football Club is looking for a confident, enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our matchday team as a Stadium PA Announcer.
Our long-standing announcer, Richard Hamilton, will be unavailable for a number of fixtures across the season due to ongoing, sometimes short-notice, personal commitments. We are now looking to bring someone on board to work alongside him, with a view to potentially stepping into the lead announcer role later in the campaign.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in a front-and-centre role at the heart of the matchday action.
The PA Announcer is a vital part of the matchday experience, helping to energise the crowd, deliver important information clearly and professionally, and ensure everyone in the ground is informed and engaged from kick-off to full-time.
What’s involved?
You will be based in the PA room on home matchdays and responsible for:
* Announcing team line-ups, goal scorers, and substitutions – together with their sponsors every time a player is mentioned
* Delivering safety and club notices (usually from pre-scripted prompts)
* Playing music and making key pre-match, half-time and full-time announcements
* Engaging the crowd and helping to build atmosphere
* Liaising with club officials and stewards as needed
Announcements are guided by a printed script and schedule, with support from the wider matchday operations team. However, requests can often come with short notice, so a flexible, organised and proactive approach to the role is key.
Who we’re looking for:
* Someone with a clear, confident speaking voice
* Reliable and punctual on matchdays
* Comfortable using a microphone and basic audio equipment (training provided)
* Calm – and assertive – under pressure and able to follow a schedule. Ideally a football fan and familiar with the matchday experience
* Available forallhome fixtures in August and September (at The Spencer Stadium, powered by egg)
You will work closely with Richard in the early stages, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility as the season progresses. This is a voluntary role, but a highly rewarding one, perfect for someone looking to gain media, presenting or event experience, or simply give back to the Club.
Interested?
If you would like to get behind the mic and be the voice of The Puritans on matchdays, we would love to hear from you.
