Job Title: Health and Safety Officer Band: 6 Location: Hill Building, St Lukes Hospital, Armagh Reports To: Health and Safety Manager Directorate: Finance, Procurement and Estates Job Summary: As a Health and Safety Officer, you will support the Health and Safety Manager in delivering expert advice and guidance on all aspects of health, safety, and fire compliance across the Trust. You will contribute to building and sustaining a culture of safety, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering continual improvement in workplace safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Provide competent advice and guidance on health, safety and fire matters across all staff levels. Develop, deliver and evaluate safety-related training and maintain training records. Assist in the review and implementation of health, safety and fire policies, procedures, and standards. Investigate incidents and concerns, prepare reports, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions. Monitor incident trends and produce reports and data analysis using systems like Datix. Carry out risk assessments, safety inspections, and RIDDOR reporting as required. Liaise with external bodies (e.g. HSENI, IOSH) and support compliance inspections. Contribute to the production of compliance documentation for relevant committees. Essential Criteria: A degree or recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety with 23 years relevant experience in a middle management advisory role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience in training delivery, policy development, and report writing. Excellent planning, communication, and relationship-building skills. Valid UK driving licence (or suitable alternative for applicants with disabilities). Desirable: IOSH membership. Experience in a health and social care setting.
