About the role
Our Engineering practice includes 80+ teams working on Cloud Platforms, Mobile Apps, E-Commerce, and Machine Learning. The Technical Product Manager will work within our Cloud Infrastructure and Platforms team to ensure the development of a flexible, reliable, and secure Cloud Platform that meets the needs of internal product teams. This role involves building relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with various teams to align platform development with our strategy.
At a glance:
* Flexible Working: Hybrid role with time split between home and London/Bracknell offices. Occasional visits to other locations may be required.
* Most engineers visit the office once or twice a month; more frequent visits may be needed based on business needs.
* Salary range: £57,600 - £92,400 (depending on experience)
* Contract type: Permanent

What you’ll be doing
We are modernising our infrastructure by migrating to Google Cloud and establishing key Platforms for the future of the John Lewis Partnership. The role involves working across various technical products and Platforms, shaping how the assignment functions within the Partnership, and developing platform thinking to modernise our estate and application infrastructure.
* Experience with Google Cloud and understanding of its core products.
* Knowledge of platform engineering practices and their benefits.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence and build relationships.
* A passion for innovation, change, and secure engineering practices.
* Commitment to continuous learning on cloud, infrastructure, and security trends.
* People management experience (optional, but beneficial).
* Experience managing infrastructure contracts for value, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
* Financial Operations (FinOps) experience including budgeting and cost optimization.
Essential Skills
* Experience with Cloud Providers such as Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS.
* Technical Product Management experience, especially in building secure, self-service Cloud Platforms.
* Ability to develop a clear vision and product roadmap, working with stakeholders.
* Knowledge of development lifecycle, Continuous Delivery, and Operability practices.
* Ability to influence stakeholders and work within small teams.
* Collaboration skills across Architecture, Engineering, Security, FinOps, and Infrastructure teams.
