We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Allocations Officer to join the Housing Options Service and play a vital role in shaping how social housing is allocated across the city.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the Council meets its statutory duties under Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996, including the fair allocation of social housing and the management of the Housing Register. You’ll support the Social Housing Options Manager in running the service day to day, with responsibility for supervising and developing the Allocations Team.

You’ll lead the delivery of a high-quality Homefinder and housing registration service, ensuring targets are met, homes are relet quickly, and allocations are made in line with policy. The role involves managing complex cases, carrying out reviews, responding to enquiries and complaints, and working with colleagues and partners to improve how the service operates.

You will have:
• A strong understanding of housing allocations legislation and policy, including Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996.
• Experience of supervising staff, supporting performance, attendance, and development.
• Experience of managing reviews, audits, and quality assurance of casework.
• The ability to analyse performance data, prepare clear reports, and drive service improvement.
• Excellent communication skills, with confidence dealing with customers, partners, councillors, and MPs.
• Experience of using IT systems and housing management systems effectively.
• A good understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, equalities, and inclusion.
