You will be working as part of the perioperative multidisciplinary theatre team delivering exceptional care for patients attending for their surgery. The post holder will be a HCPC registered ODP or NMC registered nurse with an anaesthetic qualification and will assess, plan, implement and evaluate high‑quality, safe and compassionate care for patients in the perioperative setting, providing specialist assistance to the anaesthetist.
This care will be facilitated utilising evidence‑based perioperative standards, trust policies as well as local and national guidelines (e.g. NICE, NatSSIPS).
Responsibilities
* Preparation of a wide range of specialist equipment, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous and airway equipment.
* Provide essential support between the surgical team and other parts of the operating theatre and hospital during the surgical procedure.
* Prepare and safely transfer the patient to the Critical Care or Recovery area.
* Work within a range of settings and specialities, with cross‑site working as required.
* Demonstrate a dynamic approach to workload, commitment, drive and enthusiasm in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications and Experience
* Band 5 Nurse, ODP or newly qualified candidate.
* HCPC registered ODP or NMC registered nurse with an anaesthetic qualification.
* Evidence of ability to work within a multidisciplinary perioperative team and use evidence‑based practice.
Shift Patterns
Full‑time and part‑time posts will be considered for candidates with the right skills and knowledge. The post includes a varied shift pattern, day/night/on‑call rota, weekends and bank holidays.
