A leading Independent IT Infrastructure and Services Consultancy seeking an experienced AI Governance Lead for London based Council, to support the next phase of its AI governance programme.

Sitting within the Council’s enabling governance function, the role will work closely with the Technology and AI Adoption Lead, AI Programme Lead, CTDO, and AI Assurance Board (AIAB) members to strengthen governance maturity and support delivery across a growing portfolio of AI initiatives.
Responsibilities
Accelerate delivery of the AI governance programme following internal audit recommendations
Embed practical governance capability across delivery teams and stakeholders
Support the operationalisation of the AI Assurance Board (AIAB) and governance framework
Ensure AI initiatives are assessed, documented, and aligned with policy, risk, and compliance requirements
Key deliverables
Design and deliver AI governance training for Delivery Managers and Product Managers, alongside a wider organisational training plan
Coordinate and facilitate retrospective reviews of AI systems, complete risk assessments, and update the AI Register with a defined review cycle
Support preparation of AIAB submission packs and refine supporting templates and processes
Establish a central AI governance resource hub (policies, templates, guidance) for organisation-wide use
Define and embed risk tiering criteria, scoring frameworks, and assessment guidance
Develop and document an AI incident management process aligned with existing IT and cyber workflows
Align governance with procurement, policy, and supplier management frameworks
Work with Product team to define an initial value measurement approach and organisational AI KPIs
Provide a clear end-of-contract handover, including progress against audit and governance actions and recommended next steps
