The Role:
Reports to: the gunnercooke foundation Manager
Role objective: Help us bring people together, build stronger communities, and create lasting impact. Design, deliver and build on projects across the gunnercooke foundation and HOBAF, with a focus on inspire* projects and social mission delivery at HOBAF. This is a new role you can shape and own. Time will be split between supporting foundation projects/campaigns and developing HOBAF activities. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, and you will be experienced in building online and in-person communities into inclusive spaces.
Qualifications & Attributes: Strong organisational skills, confidence, attention to detail, and excellent time management to juggle multiple deadlines.
Responsibilities:
This role will work closely with the foundation Director, foundation Manager and the HOBAF team to support a variety of projects and campaigns. You will be a self-starter, take initiative and manage your time effectively. Mindset and attitude are important; we value a can-do approach, the ability to think big, and to deliver on exciting initiatives.
Building relationships:
* Work with colleagues, volunteers, professional partners and local communities to connect audiences with projects. Identify and build relationships with charities, social enterprises and community organisations.
Engage & Connect:
* Research and engage with communities across workstreams to understand audiences and their needs. Facilitate conversations and forums (online and in-person) to help people connect and overcome barriers.
Events & Activities:
* Assist in organising, producing and delivering events, from the annual Symposium to International Women’s Day, Wrap Up London and Berlin, and other online/in-person meetings.
* Co-design, promote and deliver community-focused events, coordinating with HOBAF and supporting events.
* Support recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers; act as point of contact for HOBAF volunteers and their involvement in community activities.
Marketing & Communications:
* Support content creation for social media, newsletters and event promotions across platforms; assist in delivering a content schedule.
Measuring & Reporting Impact:
* Work with HOBAF Director and foundation manager to ensure impact measures are in place; use feedback to improve activities and ensure evolving programmes.
* Stay updated with emerging third-sector trends and policy changes; promote Foundation and HOBAF externally to raise visibility.
The Person
Essential Skills & Abilities
* Community engagement and relationship-building: friendly, welcoming, able to build excellent relationships; experience facilitating inclusive groups online and in-person; experience with diverse communities.
* Events and project delivery: experience organizing, promoting and delivering events from small meetups to larger campaigns; ability to co-design and deliver community-focused activities.
* Communications & Marketing: experience creating and maintaining website content (Wix/WordPress); strong Canva skills; confident presenting and facilitating groups on behalf of the foundation/HOBAF.
* Admin / IT Skills: strong record-keeping, CRM usage, database management; excellent skills in Microsoft Office and social media platforms; adaptable to change; outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills; clear written and spoken communication.
Desirable
* Volunteer recruitment, coordination and support experience; knowledge of the voluntary sector challenges.
* Willingness to travel occasionally and work unsociable hours when needed; multilingual abilities are a plus.
