General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV's. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.
Job Description
As Component Engineer you will work within our Component Engineering team and apply your understanding of product life-cycles from assisting in component selection at design stage through to counterfeit and obsolescence management when the product is matured.
In this role you will be expected to be able to understand and interpret component datasheets to provide advice to the engineering development teams and sub-contractors on the selection of components, not only technically, but also taking into consideration, life-cycle, compliance and sourcing.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will bring an understanding of the function of various electronic components, be able to interpret component data sheets and have relevant understanding of importance of Counterfeit and Obsolescence processes.
We will have:
* Knowledge of electronic components
* Be able to interpret component datasheets and technical specifications.
* Appreciation and understanding of Compliance data (e.g. RoHS/REACH/Conflict Materials) and how they affect part selection.
* Appreciation and experience of dealing with component PCN's.
* Knowledge and Experience of the Electronics component market.
Additional Information
This role has a starting salary of between £36,000 and £47,500 plus our flexible benefits package.
We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office - typically a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
