Aims of Job / Job Purpose
To provide a high quality, trusted Management Information Service that meets the needs of the college and its stakeholders in a proactive manner, striving for continual improvement. The post holder will provide leadership, promote staff development and lead the strategic development of the service by having a strong understanding of post‑14 funding methodologies, information management, reporting, systems development, curriculum planning and performance monitoring.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Participation in strategic decision making and implementation of the strategic objectives in relation to MIS
* Provide strong leadership, direction and management of College Management Information Services
* Lead and coordinate the corporate planning and reporting activities of the College, including development and articulation of strategic plans, monitoring of progress and reporting against Key Performance Indicators
* Lead on modelling, forecasting and scenario planning, including student number forecasting and integrated planning; integrate assumptions and intelligence from external funding bodies into internal forecasting models
* Support the Senior team to continually develop and implement an integrated planning cycle, provide analysis of planning submissions, and ensure that planning submissions are in‑line with the strategic direction of the College and that outcomes of plans are effectively measured, monitored and reported
* Ensure the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of management information and corporate data, and develop and implement effective controls to improve quality of outputs
* Report to the corporation and committees
* Ensure both internal and external returns deadlines are met and data requirements adhere to standards for audit, inspection and all external funding agency requirements
* Maintain full knowledge of the funding methodology for all funding agencies and be responsible for appropriate briefings across the college
* Liaise with external bodies in relation to information or funding requirements, including but not limited to the ESFA, WMCA, OfS and awarding bodies
* Lead and be responsible for the development, support and implementation of the student record systems and associated in‑house student related developments
* Lead and develop the reporting infrastructure and be experienced in the use and development of current reporting tools, including but not limited to SQL/SSRS and other relevant software that underpins the management of information within the college
* Develop and monitor appropriate service standards and ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practice across areas of responsibility
* Lead on developing the knowledge capabilities and customer focus of staff within relevant teams, supporting and coaching team members to contribute to the wider objectives of the college
* Manage all budgets allocated to MIS in accordance with the College's Financial Procedures
* Undertake any duties commensurate with the post
Other Duties and Responsibilities
* Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College's strategic aims
* Comply with and implement college and division policies and procedures, and health and safety regulations
* Support the protection and promotion of both staff and student welfare, particularly with regards to upholding the College's Equal Opportunities policy
* Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College duties, including the processing of personal information of staff or students in accordance with Data Protection Legislation
* Participate in the College's appraisal schemes and undertake any required training, including CPD, GDPR and Safeguarding
* Liaise with other MIS staff to ensure an effective, consistent approach to the reporting function across the college
* Support the safeguarding and promotion of students' welfare, particularly with regards to upholding the College's Equal Opportunities policy
* Liaise with other divisions and faculties to ensure an effective Information service is delivered to the college
