We are searching for an experienced chartered building surveyor to join our Nottingham built asset solutions team. You will be at the heart of the service, working alongside the national leads as a key management figure in the team. You will collaborate with senior team members to build on well‑established market foundations; lead delivery of various projects and surveying commissions, and play an important role in the growth, professional development and progression of surveyors in your team.
This is a role for an experienced building surveyor who wants to combine client leadership, team development and business growth in a well‑established office with real momentum.
About The Role
As an Associate Director, you will lead the delivery of high‑quality building surveying services across a broad client base, while helping grow our presence and service offer in the region. You will build trusted relationships, support the development of colleagues and work closely with teams across Gleeds to deliver joined‑up advice and better outcomes for clients.
This is a senior opportunity with the platform to make a real impact – on projects, on people and on the continued success of the Nottingham business.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead the delivery of a range of building surveying commissions across built assets and client portfolios
* Build strong, trusted client relationships and help identify and win new opportunities
* Support the continued growth of the Nottingham office and wider Built Asset Solutions offer
* Provide clear, practical advice on building consultancy, asset performance, risk and project delivery
* Take ownership of commissions from instruction through to completion, with a focus on quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction
* Coordinate and lead project teams, bringing together the right Gleeds expertise to deliver better outcomes
* Mentor and develop colleagues, helping create a collaborative environment where people can grow and thrive
* Bring fresh thinking to service delivery and help shape a modern, forward‑looking building consultancy offer
About you
You will be an experienced chartered building surveyor with the confidence to lead work, build lasting client relationships and contribute to the growth of a strong regional team.
You will bring:

Experience, Knowledge And Key Skills
* Broad, in‑depth Building Surveying experience post MRICS qualification
* Detailed knowledge and practical experience of delivery of building surveying tasks
* Sound knowledge of construction methods and materials
* Comprehensive knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies
* Ability to administer construction contracts as Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent
* Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts
* Ability to motivate others (including providing support and encouragement) and to lead high‑performance teams
* Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes
* Excellent problem‑solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy management skills
* Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily
* Sound ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Competent at negotiating sufficient fees to both complete services and generate required profit levels
* Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams
