What are we looking for?
We are currently looking to recruit a Compliance Executive to support the Quality, Risk and Compliance team.
Where will you be based?
This role can be based from our Durham office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.
How many hours will you be working?
This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, it's not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.
A brief overview of the role:
This role works within the Quality, Risk and Compliance team. The main responsibilities of the role are to manage the team's records relating to risk and compliance and to carry out investigations into compliance issues and manage any actions to completion.
No experience is required and full training will be provided. We are looking for someone with an interest in this area who is enthusiastic and looking to progress in a career within compliance. This is an entry level role with an opportunity to progress as your knowledge develops.

Getting paid for the work you do.
The main part of your work will be to assist the Compliance Manager in maintaining and improving the firm's regulatory compliance. This includes:
Supporting client onboarding by reviewing files to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Creating and maintaining compliance records, including those relating to money laundering, complaints, claims, conflicts of interest and risks.
Managing the file review process.
Overseeing the supplier onboarding and monitoring process.
Auditing compliance with regulatory requirements under the supervision of the Compliance Manager.
Assisting with the development and rollout of compliance training within the business.
Contributing to the development or enhancement of policies, procedures and systems.
Investigating financial crime and compliance escalations, including reviewing screening matches.
Making recommendations to the Compliance Manager on proposed actions following an event and taking ownership of agreed actions up to completion.
Providing support to the Compliance Manager on other tasks as required.
To be able to perform this job you will need:
To be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and accurately.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Analytical and investigative mindset, with the ability to identify issues and assess information critically.
Effective problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities.
To be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Solid academic background demonstrating commitment and capability.
While no prior experience is required and full training will be provided, a genuine interest in risk management or anti-money laundering, and a desire to build a career in compliance, would be advantageous.
