We are growing our architecture community and are hiring across multiple levels, from Solutions Architect and Lead Architect through to Customer Account CTO. These roles are central to our work with defence and national security customers, helping to define, shape and lead the delivery of secure, innovative and effective solutions.
We are looking for architects who can work with customers, delivery teams and domain specialists to define and deliver secure solutions that meet current operational needs while supporting future growth. Depending on your experience and level, you may lead specific solution areas, shape broader architectural direction, or act as the senior technical leader for a customer account.
As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of complex solutions, ensuring alignment across the full architectural landscape. Working within enterprise architecture direction, you will bring together the relevant domain areas, including business, data, application, software, infrastructure, service and security architecture to create coherent, deliverable and secure solutions.
At more senior levels, you will also help shape architectural policy, influence strategic roadmaps, support pre-sales and business growth, and provide technical leadership across customer accounts and major programmes.
What you will be doing
* Define solution architectures for large-scale, complex, medium-risk or highly specialised delivery and pre-sales assignments.
* Own the holistic architecture and design of solutions, ensuring alignment across business, data, application, software, infrastructure, service and security domains.
* Produce outline and high-level designs that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
* Work closely with Enterprise Architects, domain architects, delivery teams and customer stakeholders to create joined-up, practical and sustainable solutions.
* Shape solutions that maximise the value of existing capabilities while identifying where new services, products or approaches are needed.
* Depending on level, influence architectural standards, contribute to long-term strategy and roadmaps, and provide senior technical leadership for a customer or business area.
What you will bring
* Strong solution architecture experience across multiple architectural domains, with the ability to bring together business, data, application, software, infrastructure, service and security viewpoints.
* Experience delivering solutions for MOD, UKIC, government, or similarly secure and highly regulated environments.
* Proven experience designing and owning complex end-to-end solutions, including the integration of COTS products where appropriate.
* Good understanding of architecture standards, frameworks and methods, with familiarity with approaches such as TOGAF, ArchiMate and C4.
* Knowledge of modern application and software engineering practices, including Agile delivery and DevSecOps.
* Strong awareness of security and cyber considerations, including secure-by-design principles.
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, supporting delivery teams and contributing to pre-sales and solution shaping activity.
* The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
It would be great if you had
* Experience leading architectural teams or acting as design authority on complex programmes.
* Experience shaping account strategy, customer roadmaps or technical direction at portfolio level.
* Broad understanding of service design, operational support models and transition into live service.
* Experience working in defence digital transformation, secure platforms, mission systems or national security environments.
