About The Role

Job Title: Senior Planner - Permanent Opportunity

DIVISION: Building
LOCATION: Manchester

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support the delivery of projects in Manchester. You will lead planning activities from tender through to completion, using your expertise in Asta Powerproject and strong communication skills to drive programme performance. This is a key role for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, influencing project outcomes, and working collaboratively across teams.
You will play a central role in pre‑construction and live project stages. The position requires on‑site presence as well as time in our Manchester office, with opportunities for home working.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead planning and scheduling across tenders and live projects.
• Develop detailed tender, contract, and target programmes.
• Communicate planning strategy to project teams and stakeholders.
• Support project controls, forecasting, and progress reporting.
• Work with clients, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers on programme matters.
• Produce integrated programmes covering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Prepare and present programme updates and progress reports.
• Support planning standards and mentor junior team members.

Person Specification
Essential Competencies
• Significant construction planning experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Asta Powerproject.
• Strong understanding of critical path methodology.
• Ability to manage labour, plant, and material resources.
• Experience assessing and mitigating programme risks.
• Strong construction method and sequencing knowledge.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Competent with planning and collaboration software.
• Understanding of NEC/JCT contracts.
• On‑site experience monitoring progress and resolving issues.
• Good awareness of construction health and safety requirements.

Desirable Competencies
• Experience in team leadership.
• Interest in improving planning processes and best practice.
