Planning Manager

We’re working on a confidential opportunity for a planning manager to join a leading developer with a strong regional presence and a long-term, well-funded pipeline of residential development.
This role would suit an experienced senior planner currently working client-side, in consultancy, or within a local authority, who is looking to apply their planning expertise in a commercial development environment while still maintaining a healthy work–life balance.
You’ll be joining a well-resourced land and planning team, working on a varied portfolio of sites ranging from early-stage land promotion through to live planning applications and delivery support.
The role:
* Managing and coordinating residential planning applications from pre-app stage through to determination
* Providing planning strategy and advice to support land acquisition and site appraisal
* Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, stakeholders and internal teams
* Managing external planning consultants and technical inputs
* Interpreting local plans, emerging policy and national guidance, including NPPF changes
* Supporting appeals where required and contributing to longer-term pipeline planning
* Working closely with land, technical and delivery teams to unlock sites efficiently
About you:
* Experience within housebuilding, development consultancy, or local authority planning
* Strong understanding of the UK planning system and residential development process
* Comfortable managing multiple sites and priorities at different stages
* Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
* Commercially aware, but with a strong grounding in sound planning judgement
