Overview

We are looking for a Neonatal Clinical Educator for a fixed 12 month secondment to support the education and development of staff across the Neonatal units and Neonatal transitional Care at our Derby and Burton sites.

Neonatal Services at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) are provided by 2 Units and Transitional Care. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit based at Royal Derby Hospital site has 26 cots and is a Level 2 (LNU) unit providing medical care for premature and sick infants. There are 3 ITU, 6 HDU and 17 SC cots. NNU on the Queens Hospital Burton site has 8 cots and is a Level 1 (Special Care) Unit. Both units work closely with one another to provide high quality care across the service. Both units are part of the East Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (North Hub).

We are looking for someone who is motivated, passionate and experienced in delivering training, supporting staff and developing clinical practice, which will all have a positive impact on patient care. We recognise the essential role education plays in delivering the highest possible standards of care to our patients.

Successful post holder will be required to work across both our Burton and Derby sites.


Responsibilities

As part of the NICU Education and Quality team you will:

* manage new staff through orientation and induction
* support existing staff with ongoing training and competencies
* work a minimum of one clinical shift per month on the neonatal units
* support the ongoing work within UHDB NHS FT to meet the safety actions of the Maternity Incentive Scheme
* support the ongoing digital education needs of the service
* collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver evidence based educational programs
* contribute to maintaining the quality of care and provide teaching and education to registered and unregistered nursing staff


Qualifications and experience

* Current NMC registration RSCN/RN, and demonstrable post-registration experience in neonatal services
* Qualified in Speciality and have a valid NLS Certificate
* Relevant current experience working in a clinical setting
* Qualification/evidence to support ability to provide training
* Experience of mentoring and developing staff
* Evidence of specialist skills gained through theoretical knowledge of care
* IT literate including experience with BadgerNet
