We require an SLT Assistant to join our friendly department of SLT providing the speech and language therapy service to Hounslow Borough.
The post holder will support the qualified adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team in the delivery of care and management of service provision in accordance with national and local priorities, organisational policies, procedures and guidelines, and in accordance with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). They will undertake communication and dysphagia treatment plans under the supervision of a qualified SLT, providing feedback on all relevant information. Main duties of the job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will:
1. Clinical Skills
2. Devise and implement specific therapy programmes for adults after the Therapist has indicated the adult's area of need, in liaison with the lead clinician. Therapy programmes may be tailored to the individual's specific needs.
3. Deliver communication therapy programmes and education sessions set by the SLT team in various settings including patients' homes, clinics, and online.
4. Assess an adult's response to therapy and determine when to progress.
5. Provide advice and strategies on factors affecting communication and swallowing difficulties in adults.
6. Carry out dysphagia screening follow-up checks.
7. Plan and run therapy groups independently within specialist areas, collaborating with other team members.
8. Advise other professionals and carers on managing communication difficulties.
9. Administer assessments within specialist areas such as AAC, Parkinson's communication screening, aphasia, etc.

Qualifications
* GCSE English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
* Level 3 diploma in health and social care (or equivalent experience)
* Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (Assistant)
Experience and Knowledge
* Interest in working with adult neurological SLT clients, paid or voluntary experience with relevant groups
* Ability to handle distressing or emotional situations, including palliative and progressive conditions
* Knowledge and experience in AAC through training or courses
* Speech and Language Therapy volunteer experience
* Experience in community healthcare
* Membership and participation in relevant Clinical Excellence groups
Skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn clinical recording systems
