Here at Hunter Steel Ltd we have over 40 years' experience carrying out shot blasting and industrial coating services. We specialise in tanks, vessels and containers that require multi-coat Epoxy systems, finished to a high standard. We also apply multi-coat systems and intumescent coatings to structural steelwork.
As we grow and expand, we are looking for a permanent fully experienced airless industrial spray painter to join our team at our purpose built facility near Mold, North Wales.
Applicants must be experienced in industrial painting and have a full understanding of operating and maintaining Graco airless spray pumps. The applicant must also be used to working to the required dry film thickness and be confident in achieving paint finishes to a high standard. Knowledge of surface preparation and industrial coatings such as Jotun, International Coatings and Sherwin Williams etc would be expected.
Responsibilities include preparing and cleaning mild steel surfaces, masking and de-greasing surfaces to ensure a perfect application and finish. Operating and maintaining industrial painting equipment and adhering to health and safety policies whilst maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and the whole team.
This position entails mostly painting water tanks, vessels, structural steelwork, frames, trusses etc to a high-quality finish. You will be working with the specified film thicknesses and variable specifications.

Applicants must be able to work in a small team and have a strong understanding of health and safety within the workplace. You will bring your practiced expertise to our team to ensure contracts are completed to the required specification and ensure a very high standard of finish is achieved.
Required additional training and PPE will be provided.
The following would be beneficial for applicants:
* Experience in abrasive blast cleaning.
* A forklift licence and experience in using forklift trucks.
* Experience in carrying out inspections on completed items.
Experienced Industrial Airless Spray Painter
As an Industrial Painter, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint to various industrial equipment and structures. You will work in a warehouse/factory setting, utilizing your skills in painting, assembly, and mechanical knowledge.
To excel in this role, you should have experience with hand tools, power tools, and be comfortable working with paints. Basic math skills are necessary for measuring and mixing paint. Additionally, having mechanical knowledge will enable you to troubleshoot any issues with the equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Clean surfaces to be painted by removing dirt, grease, or rust
- Sand surfaces to create a smooth base for paint application
- Apply primer to ensure better adhesion of the paint
- Mix paint colors according to specifications or customer preferences
- Use brushes, rollers, or spray guns to apply paint evenly
- Follow safety guidelines when working with paints and chemicals
- Wear appropriate protective gear such as goggles or masks
- Inspect finished work for quality assurance
- Maintain painting equipment by cleaning and storing properly
Skills:
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as sanders or scrapers
- Familiarity with power tools for efficient surface preparation
- Basic math skills for measuring and mixing paint accurately
- Mechanical knowledge to identify and address equipment issues
- Attention to detail for precise painting work
Contracted Hours: Monday to Friday 6.00am – 4.30pm. (6am-8am at overtime rate)
Additional Overtime: Saturday Morning 6.00 am – 12pm and Sundays.
Wage Overview:
40 Hours: £14.41 an hour
Overtime: £18.93 at time and a half (6am-8am/4:30pm - 8:00pm)
Double time (Sunday or After 8:00pm) £25.24 an hour
From the 1st April 2026 base wage increases by £0.50p an hour
Hourly rate - to be discussed/confirmed at interview.
