We are lookingfor a permanent part time Medical Receptionist to join our team based at TheRobert Darbishire Practice, the largest and busiest of the three GP practicesin the Better Health MCR Primary Care Network. The post is 22.5 hours per week;Monday - Friday 08:00 - 12:30.

The postholderwill be required to work flexibly and to provide cover for absence and busyperiods. As part of this, they may berequired to work Saturdays. There mayalso be a requirement for the postholder to work at our other practices fromtime to time.

Salary will be withinthe range £24,638 £26,177 (pro rata for part time) depending onexperience. We offer 5.4 - 6.6 weeksholiday plus bank holidays (pro rata) and optional membership of the NHSPension Scheme


Main duties of the job

Our receptionteam are the first point of contact for our patients and play an important rolein understanding patients needs, resolving queries, dealing with prescriptionrequests and either booking an appointment with the most appropriate clinicianat the practice or signposting the patient to a service outside the practice.

You dont need tohave worked in healthcare before as long as you have excellent people skills, agood attention to detail and you are willing and eager to learn new skills. Wewill provide in-house training and support.

We operate three GP practices: The Robert Darbishire Practice in Rusholme Health Centre (which is also head office) and which has a branch at The University of Manchester, Brooklands Medical Practice in Wythenshawe, and The Whitswood Practice in Alexandra Park Health Centre. In total we have over 44,000 patients.

Our patients are very diverse and include established communities as well as new communities from all over the world. We have good links with the University and a sizeable student population.

Our staff team of about 120 people has a great mix of skills and experience. We have exciting plans to expand this team even more, to help us further our mission to improve lives.


Job responsibilities

The post is part-timeand will be mostly based at The RobertDarbishire Practice, although you will also need to be able to travel to ourother sites as needed. The usual working hours are Monday Friday 08:00-12:30.

Salary will be inthe range £24,638 to £26,177 pro rata (full-time is 37.5 hours), depending onexperience. We offer membership of the NHS Pension Scheme and 5.4-6.6 weeks'holiday (depending on NHS service) plus bank holidays (pro rata). (The post isnot subject to Agenda for Change terms and conditions.)

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience working with the public, preferably in a customer service role.
* Experience of completing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.
* Experience using computers with a variety of different software packages, and good keyboard skills.
* Experience of dealing with challenging behaviours and emotional situations.


Personal Skills and Abilities

* Excellent communication skills (both verbally and written).
* The ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment whilst dealing with multiple tasks, prioritising them accordingly.
* The ability to deal with sensitive personal information and respect our patients' right to confidentiality.
* Good people skills with both colleagues and patients, being able to work as part of a busy team demonstrating understanding, compassion and assertiveness when appropriate.


Qualifications

* General education to GCSE level or equivalent.


Other

* A commitment to our organisational values to provide the best possible service to a diverse inner-city population.
* An excellent attendance record in previous roles.
