About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Liaison Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. This role offers the chance to deliver excellent patient care, develop new care pathways, and contribute to research and teaching in a nationally recognised team.
Key responsibilities
* Provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for working-age adults in the general hospital setting
* Support continuity of care and the wider nursing team
* Develop and implement integrated psychiatric care pathways in line with NHS Long Term Plan
* Participate in nationally recognised liaison psychiatry research
* Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
* Contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives
What we’re looking for
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
* GMC registration with licence to practise
* Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months)
* Approved Clinician status (or able to achieve within 3 months)
* Approved under S12 (or able to achieve within 3 months)
* Excellent clinical knowledge and skills in general adult psychiatry
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
* Higher degree or qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management
* Specialist expertise in Addictions Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, or Psychotherapy
Recruitment & Retention Package
This role attracts a £25,000 RRP, paid in staged instalments, plus up to £8,000 relocation support. Payments are pro rata for part-time employees.
