Overview
Bank NICU Nurse – Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder is part of the nursing team of the Neonatal Unit and will work closely with the Nurse in charge and multidisciplinary team members to monitor and maintain excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development. Main duties of the job
* The post-holder is responsible for the care of one or a defined group of babies within the Neonatal Unit without supervision.
* The post-holder is responsible for provision of high-quality patient care at all care levels in the NICU, ensuring care is evidence-based and of a high standard.
* The post-holder is required to act as a mentor/preceptor and to teach and supervise all staff working within the team.
* Monitor the level and standard of work undertaken by junior staff and guide, coach and advise them as appropriate.
* The post holder will be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within the Neonatal Unit.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse/ Midwife
* NLS certification
Skills / Abilities
* The ability to assess patients, develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care.
* The ability to effectively prioritise own workload.
* The ability to communicate effectively.
* The ability to safely administer medicines in accordance with Professional guidance on the administration of medicines in healthcare settings 2019 by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
Experience
* Neonatal nursing experience post neonatal qualification
Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality issues.
* A level of nursing knowledge consistent with at least two years post-registration experience and continued learning.
