Job Description - FABRIC TECHNOLOGISTOur Client is a leading and established supplier to leading high street names. We are recruiting a Fabric Technologist to work alongside their product development and technical teams, advising on fabric standards and procedures, sustainability, compliance, and care labelling.Sustainability experience and an understanding of Retailer sustainability goals is essential for this role. ResponsibilitiesProviding fabric technical support to the internal team and customersEnsure fabric is quality-managed to meet performance standards and market regulations while maintaining critical path datesProactively troubleshoot possible production issues regarding fabric characteristics, technical construction, lead times, and colours, and provide solutions or recommendations to mitigate risks in bulk productionManage test reports, implementing corrective actions or solutions where fabric performance falls below expected standardsApprove wash care and fibre compositionsManage bulk fabric and colour continuityCritical path managementMaintain a database of fabric suppliers, keeping certificates and actioning auditsManage REACH and chemical complianceManage BCI cotton platform and other sustainable fabric verification processes (including GRS)Ensure customer raw materials policies are followedStay informed about new fabric developments and innovations that may benefit the business or customersCandidate RequirementsIn-depth knowledge of woven and knitted fabric production and testing processesConfident in implementing robust and efficient fabric management systemsUnderstanding of sustainable fabric standards (Textile Exchange, BCI, etc.) and verification processes (scope certificates, transaction certificates, etc.)Informed on REACH regulations and other relevant global substances legislationAttention to detail, efficient, and able to work calmly under pressurePrevious experience working with M&S, Next, SGS/Interlink systems is desirableAble to work independently and communicate confidently with colleagues and clients
