Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Hillingdon seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-managed school environment for staff and students.
Health and Safety Officer - Role Overview
As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing health and safety procedures across the school site. Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring and reviewing health and safety policies and procedures
Conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments
Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and school policies
Recording and investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses
Providing guidance and training to staff on health and safety practices
Liaising with external agencies and contractors where required
Maintaining accurate records and documentation
Supporting emergency procedures, including fire safety and evacuation drills
Promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing across the schoolRequirements
Previous experience in a health and safety role, ideally within a school or public sector environment
Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent) desirable
Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong communication skills and the ability to train and support staff
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)What's on Offer
