Head of Compliance (Insurance)

A well-established global insurance group is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead its Compliance function. This position would be ideal for a Generalist Senior/ Compliance manager that is looking to step up into a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping and delivering the organisation’s compliance strategy, financial crime framework and regulatory oversight, while managing and developing a high-performing Compliance team.
The Role
Reporting into senior executive leadership, you will act as the key Compliance lead and trusted advisor to the business, ensuring robust governance, strong regulatory alignment and effective management of compliance risk across UK and international operations.
Key Duties
Leadership & Strategy
* Lead, develop and manage the Compliance function, including line management of a small team
* Define and deliver the Compliance strategy and annual Compliance Plan
* Act as the primary Compliance advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders
Regulatory Advisory & Oversight
* Provide expert, commercially focused advice on regulatory requirements
* Oversee regulatory engagement
* Ensure the business operates in line with applicable regulatory frameworks and risk appetite
Financial Crime & Risk Management
* Own and oversee the financial crime framework, including sanctions, due diligence and controls
* Provide sign-off on complex financial crime and regulatory decisions
* Ensure robust controls are in place to mitigate compliance and regulatory risks
Monitoring, Governance & Frameworks
* Oversee the design and execution of risk-based compliance monitoring and assurance programmes
* Maintain and enhance compliance policies, frameworks and governance structures
* Lead Board and Committee reporting, providing clear insight on compliance risks and issues
Culture, Training & Stakeholder Engagement
* Promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation
* Oversee the delivery of compliance training and awareness programmes
* Build strong relationships across underwriting, operations and senior management
