We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our team as a part‑time AHP Student Educator on a fixed‑term/secondment basis. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your professional portfolio, develop educational leadership capability, and play a key role in developing high‑quality practice learning for the future OT workforce within mental health services.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Senior Learning Experience & Environment Educator and Senior Student Educators to support coordination, delivery, and evaluation of student support and practice education programmes.
* Influence placement quality, increase professional visibility, and contribute to consistent, high‑quality learning experiences for AHP students in mental health settings.
* Provide flexibility to support mental‑health AHP placements across Trust sites while developing skills in facilitation, reflective practice, and quality improvement.
* Promote Occupational Therapy and HCPC standards, strengthen mental‑health learning cultures, and support supervisors to build confidence and clinical competence with students.
* Deliver evidence‑based practice education and training sessions across the Hampshire and Isle of Wight and support all learners in clinical practice.
* Identify clinical areas that require support and work with clinical teams, supervisors, preceptors, practice teachers, and learners to create a positive learning environment.
* Support the Clinical Education and Development Team in identifying further learning needs in practice and meeting organisational objectives.
* Identify appropriate placement opportunities for all students and apprentices, and record and monitor these placements.
* Support clinical staff and learners in completing practice assessments of students as appropriate.
* Act as a positive professional role model, promote clinical excellence, and offer expert professional development advice within scope of practice.
* Contribute to internal and external audit processes, including the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and strategic/board level reviews.
