Our Boston area client, a highly profitable private company, with over 60 yrs of success using proprietary technology for coating medical devices is adding a Technical Sales Engineer reporting to the CEO. The Technical Sales Engineer will have responsibility for contributing to the growth and profitability of the business by leading the quoting of new sales opportunities. The function is to take a lead role in managing the initial review and quoting of new customer projects. This position will work with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.
Responsibilities:
* Communicates with sales reps and customers to clarify specifications, capabilities, development and engineering requirements, lead times, and deliverables.
* Drives responsiveness and speed to deliver customer quotations in less than 48 hours. Tracks and maintains information necessary to maintain and improve quote turnaround time.
* Works with suppliers and internal purchasing to obtain competitive pricing and lead times.
* Utilize ERP system to review stock availability. Work with planning and operations to plan alternatives for delivery schedules to support customer quotations.
* Work within the established company-wide quality documentation system, including key aspects such as contract review, print development, change control, inspection method development and creation of inspection documentation.
* Work with Director of Sales and CEO on high volume, strategically important quotations to assess pricing strategy, approach too volume discounting and cost reduction plans as needed.
* Travel to and represent the company at industry meetings.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
* 7-10 years of professional experience. Experience in medical device manufacturing, servicing OEM and / or contract manufacturers a plus.
* Experience in basic print reading/understanding and product specification reviews.
* Experience in ERP systems use. Strong Microsoft excel and math skills.
