Staff development is a priority, with 20 days of CPD offered annually, alongside flexible working arrangements such as a 9‑day fortnight or 4‑day week to support work‑life balance.The RoleWe are seeking a Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to deliver pre‑planning water environment consultancy services across residential, renewable energy, and utilities projects. You will play a key role in projects requiring Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Impact Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies, and hydrological studies.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce high‑quality reports including flood risk and drainage assessmentsEnsure deliverables meet policy requirements and best practice standardsUndertake site visits to collect flood risk and drainage dataLiaise with stakeholders including EA, SEPA, LLFAs, IDBs, and sewerage undertakersProvide consultancy advice at design meetingsCollaborate with colleagues across hydrology, ecology, and construction disciplinesSupport bids and proposalsCandidate ProfileDegree in civil engineering, environmental science, or related disciplineStrong experience in drainage or surface water managementBackground in flood risk management within consultancy, public sector, or regulatory bodiesStrong knowledge of legislation, planning policy, and design standards relating to flood risk and drainageSolid understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)Experience delivering and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies for planning applicationsSkilled in stakeholder engagement and technical/non‑technical report writingProficiency with modelling/design software (e.g., InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, AutoCAD)Strong communication skills and ability to work independentlyFull UK driving licenceBenefits£40,000 – £45,00020 days CPD allowance per yearPaid professional membership25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with service)Flexible hours policyPrivate healthcare and pension contributionHybrid working optionsUK relocation package available for the right candidateFlexible working arrangements (9‑day fortnight, 4‑day week, or similar)
