Psychology Graduate - Nurture Class Support
Alternative Provision | Blackpool
Are you a recent Psychology Graduate looking to bridge the gap between theory and practice? This is an exceptional opportunity to gain high-level, hands-on experience within a specialist Alternative Provision (AP) in Blackpool.
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our dedicated team, supporting a small nurture class of up to five children. Unlike a traditional school setting, our Alternative Provision focuses on pupils who require a different approach to education, making this role ideal for someone with a deep interest in child development, emotional regulation, and behavioural science.
The Role
In this position, you will work closely with a specialist lead to deliver a primary-model curriculum that prioritises emotional safety alongside academic progress. You will be responsible for implementing trauma-informed and autism-aware strategies to help pupils navigate their day in a non-traditional learning environment.
Your daily tasks will involve supporting specific EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets and helping to maintain a calm, structured, and predictable space. By building strong, trusting relationships, you will guide pupils through moments of dysregulation using positive reinforcement and relational approaches, providing the consistent support they need to re-engage with education.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a degree holder in Psychology or a closely related social science field who has a genuine interest in SEMH, ASC, and the psychological barriers to learning. You must be naturally calm, patient, and emotionally resilient, with the ability to remain grounded in challenging situations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best outcomes for the pupils. This role is a perfect stepping stone for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, or specialist practitioners seeking meaningful, real-world experience.
Why Apply?
This is more than just a support role; it is a chance to apply your psychological understanding in a setting that values therapeutic intervention as much as academic achievement. You will receive ongoing professional development and the opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners in the field of alternative education.
