Graduate Consultant Overview:
A growing, high-calibre technology consultancy is seeking Graduate Consultants and Early Career Engineers across Software Engineering, Data, AI/ML, DevOps, Automation and Technical Consulting disciplines.
They're a joint venture between two global leaders in consulting and investment management, and rather than hiring for a single technology stack or narrow role, they're assembling a team of exceptionally smart engineers, data specialists and technical problem solvers who can tackle difficult challenges, communicate effectively, and thrive in demanding environments.
They're building teams across all disciplines, with a particular focus on hiring outstanding problem solvers rather than simply matching a specific technology stack. They're looking for Graduate Consultants who understand how systems work under the hood, not just how to use the latest tools.
The environment is geared towards Graduate Consultants who enjoy tackling complex challenges, working closely with end users, and taking ownership from day one. Most of the work is greenfield, with dedicated divisions supporting financial services and defence-related programmes, alongside continued expansion into new industry sectors (Insurance, Energy).
They're hiring for, and value, Graduate Consultants who:
- Enjoy working on challenging technical problems
- Are naturally curious and intellectually rigorous
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Enjoy variety and continuous learning
- Take ownership and responsibility for outcomes
- Are adaptable, articulate and commercially aware
- Understand fundamental engineering and problem-solving principles
Graduate Consultant responsibilities may include:
- Designing and building software applications, data platforms and technical solutions
- Working directly with users and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver value
- Developing software using modern engineering practices
- Building data pipelines, automation tooling and cloud-based solutions
- Applying analytical thinking to solve complex technical and business problems
- Collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering and consulting teams
- Contributing to AI, machine learning and emerging technology initiatives
- Supporting greenfield projects from concept through to delivery
- Continuously improving systems, processes and technical standards
Graduate Consultant requirements:
- STEM degree from a leading university (2:1 minimum)
- Relevant placement year/real world experience/internships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Genuine passion for technology, engineering, mathematics or data
- Ability to learn quickly and operate in a fast-paced environment
Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous as a Graduate Consultant:
- Software Engineering (C#, Python, Java, C++, Rust, Typescript, Go or similar)
- Data Engineering and Analytics
- SQL and databases
- Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- DevOps, Infrastructure or Automation
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Mathematics, Statistics or Quantitative Analysis
- Financial Services, Defence or other highly regulated environments
Graduate Consultant benefits:
- Performance-related bonus (10-25%)
- Private healthcare
- Pension
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Structured learning and development (all Graduate Consultants start on £35k + 10% bonus with the view to progress quickly through £38k, £41k, £45k, £50k+ milestones within the first 2 years)
- Exposure to senior technical and business leaders
- Opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects from day one
- Clear progression pathways across engineering, consulting and leadership disciplines
