Youll support our strategic objectives to prevent and disrupt economic crime and implement reforms to the UKs company law framework. We have three new roles available in our analytics teams. Working on our new and modern cloud data platform, youll lead analytical projects that inform investigations and shape policy. Recent and upcoming legislative reform is changing the way in which we operate, driving demand for good quality data insights to show the impact of these changes and aid decision making. Find out more about what a great place Companies House is to work Job description The successful candidate will be expected to: Lead complex data analysis projects to support our strategic objectives Develop reporting outputs to align with strategic organisational goals Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to build robust data solutions Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights for stakeholders Mentor/manage more junior analysts and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement As a Senior Data Analyst, youll work within our Analytics division and be matched to one of three exciting service areas, each offering a unique opportunity to apply your skills and make a meaningful impact: Intelligence & Economic Crime: Join a pioneering multidisciplinary teamthe first of its kind at Companies Housefocused on tackling fraud and economic crime. Youll work closely with data engineers and data scientists to deliver high-impact insights that support intelligence-led decision-making. Policy & Transformation: Lead analytical projects that directly inform policy development and organisational transformation. Youll work alongside policy and strategy colleagues to ensure decisions are grounded in robust evidence at a pivotal time for Companies House. Compliance & Enforcement performance: Develop and shape performance reporting to support our enhanced regulatory powers. Your work will help prevent, detect, and disrupt economic crime. This role includes line management of one analyst and offers the chance to build new analytical outputs in a high-demand area. About the team All three roles sit within the Analytics division of our Data Directorate. You will be aligned to either our Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast office, where you will be expected to attend on a regular basis. We are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work which provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. The degree of choice you have will depend on your role and your day-to-day work activities. Your manager will agree regular patterns of attendance with you, however you may be required to make yourself available to attend the office more frequently when required to meet business needs. While 2 of the roles offer flexibility in location, 1 role requires a Cardiff base due to the nature of the service. We welcome applications from candidates who are open to this. Working Hours This is a full time position of 37 hours per week. For any candidates interested in part time, the minimum hours per week we would be able to accommodate due to the nature of the role and team structure, is 30 hours or 4 days a week. Person specification We are looking for someone who has: Extensive practical experience in applying data analysis techniques using modern statistical programming languages and tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL). Experience in leading analytical projects across a multidisciplinary team. Experience in engaging with varied stakeholders to translate their reporting/data requirements into technical requirements. Extensive practical experience in data visualisation, with proficiency in tools such as Power BI. Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications and analysis for different audiences. Become or willing to become a badged member of the Government Statistician Group. This can be done after joining Companies House. Qualifications Candidates must have at least one of the following: A first- or second-class honours degree (2:2 minimum) in a numerate subject containing taught statistical content (e.g. Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Psychology, Geography). A higher degree, e.g. an MSc or PhD, in a subject containing formal statistical training (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business Studies, Psychology, Geography or similar). Have worked in a statistical/data science field and are able to demonstrate continuous professional development (via a CPD Logbook) in statistics or data science at the same level as a foundation degree/HND (level five). Have achieved a level four apprenticeship including at least two years in a statistical/data analysis field in government and are able to demonstrate continuous professional development in statistics/data analysis (via a CPD logbook signed off by a manager or mentor who are members of the statistical profession).
