ROLE TITLE:Export Business Development Manager

PRIMARY BASE:Haslingden

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Commercial Manager



PURPOSE OF ROLE:



We are seeking a highly motivated Export Business Development Manager to expand our sales across Eastern and Northern Europe. This role is pivotal in identifying and securing new business opportunities, as well as nurturing and growing existing relationships with overseas clients, distributors, and partners. The successful candidate will act as a key representative of Carvansons Ltd in the region, managing the full sales process from initial enquiry through to project completion.



This position requires an individual with strong industry knowledge, technical understanding, and commercial acumen. The role will involve frequent international travel, independent working, and close collaboration with colleagues across sales, technical, and regulatory teams.



PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop and execute strategies to grow international sales and enter new export markets across Eastern and Northern Europe.
* Identify and build relationships with existing overseas distributors, agents, and direct clients.
* Manage projects end-to-end, including enquiry handling, briefing, sampling, pricing, negotiation, and contract closure.
* Conduct market research to understand global trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
* Negotiate commercial agreements and manage contract terms with international partners.
* Collaborate with logistics, production, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
* Attend international trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events to promote the Carvansons brand.
* Monitor export performance and report on key metrics to the Commercial Manager.

* Interpret and respond clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner to requests for information from colleagues, managers, directors, and external agencies
* Understand business demands and expectations and deliver against these in line with the company’s high standards

* Developing and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Following instructions and asking appropriate questions
* Ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner and people are kept informed of progress

Candidate Profile

* Proven experience in business development, account management, or sales within the fragrance, flavour, cosmetic, or related chemical industries.
* Strong understanding of the fragrance industry including regulations, restrictions, and technical requirements.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Eastern and Northern Europe.
* Fluent in English (additional European languages would be advantageous).

QUALIFICATIONS

* GCSE or Level 2 in Maths and English.





EXPERIENCE

* Proven experience in business development, account management, or sales within the fragrance, flavour, cosmetic, or related chemical industries.
* MS Windows 365 inc Word and Excel.
* Working to tight deadlines and under pressure.
* Using own initiative and working as part of a team.
* Intermediate level MS Office including Word, Excel.




SKILLS

* Fluency in English is required.
* Proficiency in a second language.
* Strong knowledge of CRM software, ideally Hubspot.
* Demonstrates problem solving abilities.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to be organised and to manage own time effectively.
* The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and act as a team player.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate effectively and be able to clearly explain issues to suppliers and colleagues.
* Willingness to undertake further development and responsibilities.
* An ability to maintain accurate up to date electronic and manual files.
* Demonstrates a helpful, polite and confident manner.





KNOWLEDGE

* Strong understanding of the fragrance industry including regulations, restrictions, and technical requirements.

* A flexible and adaptable approach and being responsive to the needs of the business and colleagues.
