We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Service Centre Manager based onsite at Beacon Barracks, Stafford, ST18 0AQ
HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours a week, Monday to Friday
Join our vibrant, inclusive community in Complex Facilities / Defence Equipment. You will be responsible for producing and delivering the internal SLEP (Service life extension programme) equipment production plan, involving the inspection, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance of a fleet of Military Plant Equipment, Earthmovers, Mobile Cranes, HGVs, Trailers, Mechanical handling equipment & Site Equipment, engaging with internal & external stakeholders and ensuring a steady flow of equipment in to, through and out of the production facility at Stafford.
The role also includes the daily management of an engineering team, including their development, performance, safety and adherence to process, legislative and continual improvement.
What You Will Do
The health & safety of all direct reports and the SLEP Centre
Carrying out Building & Van inspections in conjunction with the SHEQ team
Liaising with the site & Mod personnel on all site, building & plant yard matters, reporting faults as necessary and following up for a resolution
Producing and delivering to a production plan to budget and timescales.
Ensuring quality of SLEP output repair standard is maintained within set timeframes & budget
Liaising with all areas of the business, to ensure sufficient resource and equipment is always available to ensure programme continuity.
Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed within the contractual timeframes and KPI requirements, including managing and always minimizing Work in Progress (WIP).
Arranging transport, managing costs
Supervising and developing the engineering capability within the SLEP Centre
Liaising with suppliers and sub-contractors.
Supporting the Equipment Sustainability & Refurbishment Manager to deliver the overall SLEP project
Managing spares orders, stock and usage, ensuring correct order codes are used dependent upon need.
Producing & updating reports on a weekly, monthly and as required basis
Adherence to all applicable processes such as, but not limited to: IFS, SHEQ, Finance.
Attending all meetings as required
To maintain discipline and handle disciplinary matters, as and when they arise, in line with Company Procedure and best practice.
Conducting Employee development reviews and appraisals for all direct reports
Liaising with HR regarding recruitment, performance whilst managing holidays & absences
Observe and comply with all Company policies, including but not limited to, Health and Safety, Car Policy, Ethics Policy, Company Expense Policy, IT User policy and all policies and appendices within the Contract of Employment.
Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in line with skills and experience.
To ensure that all quotes raised to cover the cost to rectify all non-fair wear and tear repairs are prepared in accordance with the agreed procedures and submitted for approval and execution within the agreed timelines and to the required KPI standard.

City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or above in a technical qualification (Essential)
IOSH (or equivalent) certificate (Desirable)
Management qualification (Desirable)
HGV Licence (Desirable)
Strong background in engineering and equipment maintenance
Possess a current driving licence
Good levels of people management skills, having demonstrated an ability to work in a team and have a desire to promote customer service excellence
Excellent communicator to internal and external groups
Strong understanding of cultural differences and the ability to adapt accordingly
Solutions based approach to dealing with issues raised
Understanding of and application of Health & Safety requirements
Demonstrate a good level of commercial/financial awareness.
