Lead Sonographer – Mile End Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated, and experienced Sonographer to join our team as Lead Sonographer for Mile End Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre. The post holder will provide operational and clinical leadership for the community diagnostic centre ultrasound service, enhancing their leadership and management skills in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Responsibilities
* Provide operational and clinical leadership for the ultrasound service and act as Operational Lead Sonographer for Mile End Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre and Early Diagnostic Ultrasound service.
* Deputise for the Ultrasound Lead Sonographer for CDC and Networked Services when required and work closely with other Lead Sonographers in the Trust.
* Teach and mentor sonographers, trainee sonographers, imaging assistants, admin and clerical team.
* Manage the integration of the networked ultrasound service, coordinate staffing and resources, and ensure cross‑site rotation of the sonographer workforce.
* Work part of a multidisciplinary team, performing 50 % clinical duties and 50 % managerial and leadership duties.
* Monitor patient pathways, justify referrals, promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other health‑care professionals and outside agencies.
* Undertake clinical work within established quality standards, adhering to ultrasound guidelines such as BMUS, RCOG, RCR, FASP and NICE.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise workload and liaise effectively with other departments.
* Desire to teach others.
* Current registration through a regulatory body (HCPC, NMC or GMC) in the UK.
* Case accredited ultrasound qualification, DMU or post‑graduate certificate/diploma in medical ultrasound.
