About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Commercial Manager to join our team, supporting a portfolio of rail infrastructure projects in partnership with Network Rail. Based in Hertfordshire, this permanent role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the successful delivery of high-profile rail contracts, ensuring commercial excellence and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all commercial activities across assigned rail projects, ensuring alignment with Network Rail frameworks and governance.
* Manage contract administration, including NEC3/4 contracts, change control, early warnings, and compensation events.
* Provide accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and budget management.
* Support tendering and procurement processes, including subcontractor engagement and contract negotiation.
* Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
* Collaborate closely with project managers, planners, and engineers to ensure commercial objectives are met.
* Prepare and present commercial reports to internal stakeholders and client representatives.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a commercial management role within the rail or infrastructure sector.
* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and Network Rail procedures.
* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES) is desirable.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
