Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead and manage civil engineering projects, including piling and groundworks, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery. The successful candidate will oversee all site operations, coordinate subcontractors and labour, and maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to manage multi-disciplinary teams and maintain excellent client and stakeholder relationships. The Site Manager will be responsible for programme management, cost control, risk mitigation, and ensuring all works meet contractual and regulatory requirements. Experience in managing complex civil engineering schemes, including piling and groundworks, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage site teams, subcontractors, and resources to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including CDM regulations
Develop, monitor, and update project programmes and procurement schedules
Manage site logistics, risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation for client and internal use
Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and high levels of satisfaction
Identify and resolve site issues proactively, driving continuous improvement and value engineering opportunities
Oversee commercial performance, cost control, and forecasting to maximise project value
Skills
Proven experience managing civil engineering sites with piling and groundworks
Strong knowledge of construction methods, specifications, and contract management (NEC/JCT)
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
Competent in health, safety, and environmental compliance (CDM regulations)
Ability to manage subcontractors and direct labour effectively
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Experience in programme management and cost control
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Client-focused with excellent stakeholder management skills

Certifications & Standards
CSCS Site Manager card (essential)
