A BAM apprenticeship is a full time earn and learn position, where you will be involved in delivering multi million-pound projects. Leaving a lasting legacy and positive change in our communities.
Making Possible
As an Apprentice HVAC Engineer in BAM FM, you'd typically be working on live client sites (schools, hospitals, commercial offices, MOD sites, etc.), learning how to install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
1. Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
Assisting with scheduled servicing of:
* Boilers and heating systems
* Air handling units (AHUs)
* Fan coil units (FCUs)
* Split AC systems
* Chillers (depending on site exposure)
* Cleaning filters, checking belts, lubricating parts
* Recording readings (temperatures, pressures, airflow rates
2. Reactive Maintenance
* Supporting engineers responding to breakdowns
* Fault finding on heating or cooling systems
* Replacing components (valves, motors, thermostats, sensors)
* Resetting and testing plant after repairs
3. Compliance & Safety
Learning about:
* F-Gas regulations
* Health & Safety procedures (RAMS, permits to work)
* Gas Safe standards (if on heating pathway)
* Completing job sheets and digital reports (often via CAFM systems)
4. Installation Support
Assisting with:
* Pipework installation
* Ductwork modifications
* Small AC installations
* Component upgrades
Your team
We are looking for an Apprentice to join our team on the North Ayrshire contract carrying out reactive and planned works throughout the contract.
