Hi there — we're Joseph Parr (Northants) Ltd, an independent Builders and Timber Merchant proudly rooted in Kettering. We support local builders, contractors, and tradespeople — and now, we're growing.
With new product lines, refreshed stock, and a stronger presence than ever, we're looking for a External Business Development Manager to take our brand even further across the region.
This role is all about being out there: building genuine, lasting relationships, solving problems, and driving profitable growth.
What You'll Be Doing
· Actively seeking out and winning new business across your territory
· Supporting our new account holders to promote our full proposition, nurturing spend in the early life cycle of the account
· Visiting building sites, and customer premises — wherever the work is
· Identifying customer needs and offering smart, tailored product solutions
· Quoting, pricing, and negotiating deals that deliver for both sides
· Collaborating with the branch team to ensure top-notch service and fulfilment
· Working closely with internal sales and management to smash targets
What You'll Bring
· Proven external sales experience — ideally in builders' merchants, timber, or construction supplies
· Strong product knowledge
· A self-starting attitude with great time and territory management
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills
· Knowledge of the local building trade scene is a big plus
