Electrical Automation Controls Engineer

Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, document, test, and maintain control system software for PLCs, SCADA, and programmable safety systems.
* Train and advise engineers and operators on control system operation and maintenance.
* Alter and improve PLC programmes to enhance plant performance.
* Apply automation knowledge and skills to drive improvement in manufacturing availability.
* Lead new control system installations, including software programming and hardware integration.
* Ensure all machines and equipment are safe, working efficiently, and fit for purpose.
* Collaborate across teams to contribute to key improvement projects.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machine faults to reduce downtime.
* Develop automation skills and techniques through OEM training.
* Coach and mentor maintenance engineers on control systems.
* Proactively detect, report, diagnose, and predict potential or existing software and electronic issues on all equipment.
* Implement permanent solutions to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency through fault-finding and diagnostics.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Working knowledge of PLC systems and HMI software.
* Experience maintaining electrical/control systems on complex processes and/or high-speed production equipment.
* Experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing instrumentation devices.
* Experience with PLC touchscreen controls and electrical maintenance.
* Automation/Controls apprenticeship with several years post-qualification work experience within a manufacturing environment.
* HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Ability to fault-find and implement programme modifications on a range of PLCs & SCADA.
* Knowledge of servo drives and inverters.
* High-level fault-finding and diagnostics across a range of control equipment.
* Experience fault-finding on industrial communication networks.
* Experience designing and modifying control circuits and programme logic.
