About the Role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to provide targeted emotional and mental health support to pupils. You will also assist in promoting positive wellbeing strategies across the school.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils experiencing emotional or mental health challenges, support pupils in developing coping strategies and resilience.
Work with teachers to implement wellbeing programmes and interventions.
Monitor, record, and report on pupils’ mental health progress.
Encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil wellbeing.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
Assist pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and structured activities.
Help deliver workshops and activities focused on mental health and wellbeing.
Support pupils in achieving both academic and personal goals.
Requirements:
Experience working with children in a mental health or wellbeing support role.
Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
Empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to supporting children.
Relevant qualifications in mental health, counselling, or childcare are desirable.
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ in Childcare/Teaching Assistant/Education are desirable.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
