Job Summary
We are looking for an ambitious, motivated pharmacist to provide clinical pharmacy services on a rotational basis across our wards. This role is ideal for pharmacists wishing to gain experience in hospital pharmacy or transition to a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical pharmacy service to wards, offering advice on the safe, effective and economical use of medicines.
* Cover wards on a rotational basis in surgery, cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, elderly care and acute admissions.
* Assume Responsible Pharmacist duties within the dispensary.
* Maintain a personal portfolio of evidence of practice.
Essential Person Specification
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Commitment to continuing professional development in line with GPhC recommendations.
* MSc in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification.
* Attendance at relevant local and national training events and courses.
Desirable Qualifications
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB).
* Post‑graduate clinical certificate, primary care pathway qualification or equivalent.
Required Experience
* Experience in project or audit work.
* Core knowledge of therapeutics and pharmacology, with demonstrated clinical reasoning and judgement.
* Ability to problem‑solve and prioritise work, managing time to meet deadlines.
* Awareness of the current NHS agenda and relevant legislation applicable to hospital pharmacy practice.
Desirable Experience
* Critical appraisal skills.
* Experience in formulating protocols and standards.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
* Hospital experience as a trainee or undergraduate.
* Experience working with ward‑based technicians.
Additional Requirements
* Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.
