Role overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled individual to join our Design and Technology department as a Design & Technology Technician. This casual role offers a chance to support practical lessons and help create a safe, engaging learning environment. You will assist in preparing materials and packs for exams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing materials and resources for lessons and student projects
* Assisting in the development and construction of teaching aids and prototypes
* Maintaining tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring health and safety standards
* Carrying out maintenance and safety inspections (e.g., PAT testing, LEV checks)
* Supporting administrative tasks such as ordering materials and managing inventory
* Occasionally assisting small groups of students with practical tasks under supervision
Person Specification:
* Good general education with sound literacy and numeracy skills
* Strong practical ability with various materials and tools
* Working knowledge of D&T software and equipment
* Awareness of current Health and Safety legislation
* Certification for machinery use or willingness to undertake training
* First aid qualification (training provided if needed)
This flexible role is ideal for someone able to commit approximately 15 hours per week until July 2025. Working hours are negotiable based on departmental needs. The role may lead to a permanent position in the 2025/26 academic year for the right candidate.
