We now wish to capitalise on this success and build on our ambition by expanding our Environmental and Planning Team. We are seeking a Senior Town Planner with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification consultancy or public sector experience to work on challenging and exciting infrastructure projects across various sectors (e.g., water services, renewables, ports and harbours, aviation, flooding, and climate change resilience, etc.). The successful candidate will report to a Lead Planner in the Environment & Planning Team at Nicholas O’Dwyer. Main Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for: Managing, co-ordinating, and preparing planning applications (LA and SID) including conducting pre-planning consultations and engaging with relevant statutory bodies and agencies, preparing planning application documentation, and carrying out technical reviews of planning drawings. Preparing bespoke planning strategies. Managing, co-ordinating, and preparing responses to Further Information Requests for planning applications and completing planning compliance submissions (including Article 9 reviews of exempted development). Managing, co-ordinating, preparing, and reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), Strategic Environment Assessments (SEA), Appropriate Assessments (AA) and other environmental and planning reports. Preparing planning appeals and responding to third party appeals. Providing planning advice to engineering colleagues and clients. Delivering on client expectations for Environment & Planning projects. Managing and overseeing projects run by the Environmental & Planning Team day-to-day, including preparing fee proposals, and invoicing. Consulting and liaising with statutory and non-statutory bodies, local authorities, government agencies and An Coimisiún Pleanála. Managing sub-consultants and sub-contractors contributing to projects. Overseeing, guiding, and managing junior team members in their professional development. Ensuring quality and adherence to professional standards of project deliverables. Developing excellent relationships with clients and attending meetings with clients and design teams. Managing and preparing tender submissions and fee proposals. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: We are looking for a Candidate with the following knowledge, experience, and attributes: A postgraduate degree in Town Planning. Chartered status or professional membership of the IPI / RTPI. Excellent, pragmatic knowledge of environmental legislation, guidance, and standards, including their application through infrastructure projects. Significant experience of preparing and submitting planning applications, drafting planning reports, planning strategies, etc. for a wide range of projects. Significant experience in EIA, as an EIA practitioner and project manager. Experience in the areas of SEA and AA, is desirable. Experience in overseeing, and/or project managing multidisciplinary projects. Exceptional organisational and project management skills. Excellent report writing skills. Excellent communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Ability to develop and maintain a strong client base and develop new business. Ability to lead and manage teams effectively and efficiently under pressure.
