We have an excellent opportunity for a 12-month fixed-term Matron to join our Emergency Department team at Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith. This is a chance to lead with confidence, support a dedicated team, and make a real difference to patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Charing Cross Emergency Department is a busy, fast paced unit. This environment brings exciting opportunities for new ways of working, improvements in care delivery and improved staff development and multi-disciplinary team working. Key to the delivery of these new systems and making best use of these unique new opportunities is a motivated, highly skilled and highly visible nursing leader.
The Matron will be an accessible expert who will take responsibility for the delivery and maintenance of high quality care as well as the implementation of new ways of working in collaboration with the wider Multi Disciplinary Team(MDT).
The post holder should demonstrate clinical expertise in the nursing care of patients, as well as excellent patient assessment skills and have sound management knowledge. The post holder will also demonstrate the ability to provide strong, consistent leadership and maintain good interpersonal relationships with their colleagues.
The post holder will be professionally accountable for standards of care, patient experience, workforce, and the well-being of staff.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as a clinical expert within your sphere of work.
2. Demonstrate expert knowledge by being visible, accessible and using clinical skills within the workplace as appropriate.
3. Respond to the concerns of patients, relatives and carers as they arise and take remedial action as required.
4. Develop patient and carer information leaflets as required and in accordance with Trust policy.
5. Responsible for the nursing management of Adult Emergency Department.
6. Ensure a consistent approach to nursing care across all areas of responsibility through collaborative working and the development of shared procedures and guidelines, continual auditing of practice, developing and implementation of action plans as appropriate.
7. Responsible for the management of services within financial limits.
8. Ensure that departmental equipment is in good working order, and that systems are in place to maintain, repair or replace equipment as necessary.
9. Keep informed of national and Trust policies, especially those affecting service delivery and patient care and disseminate the information as appropriate.

11. Degree in Nursing or Equivalent
