An Outstanding specialist school in Wantage is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join their supportive and experienced team. This is a long-term, full-time opportunity to gain invaluable hands‑on experience working with children and young people who present with mental health challenges and complex co-occurring needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and speech and language difficulties.
You will be supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them engage in their learning, manage emotions, and develop vital life skills. Each child has an individualised Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), and you'll play a key role in delivering tailored strategies that support emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
Ideal candidate profile
* Psychology graduates seeking practical experience before pursuing further training in clinical psychology, educational psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or counselling.
* Individuals with a passion for child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS) or special educational needs (SEN).
