Overview:
We are seeking a Project Director (Mechanically biased) for a prestigious mixed-use development in Central London. The project aims to be net-zero in operation, one of the first all-electric towers in London, and is designed to achieve a BREEAM Outstanding rating.

Role:
As a Project Director you will lead and manage all mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) aspects of a large-scale mixed-use projects. This position is responsible for overseeing mechanical design coordination, procurement, installation, and commissioning, ensuring that all systems are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.
Lead the mechanical scope of the project from design through to handover, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Oversee and coordinate mechanical design development, working closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Manage the tendering, selection, and performance of MEP contractors and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, local regulations, sustainability goals, and building codes.
Collaborate with construction teams to ensure mechanical systems are integrated with other trades and aligned with the master construction schedule.
Monitor project progress and report regularly on cost, schedule, risks, and quality.
Implement quality control procedures and supervise mechanical commissioning and system validation.
Proactively identify and resolve technical or logistical issues related to mechanical systems.
Interface with clients, stakeholders, and authorities as the mechanical lead on the project.
Ensure all safety protocols are followed during installation and commissioning phases.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of mechanical project management practices.
Qualifications:
Proven delivery experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager on £30m+ schemes.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 10+ years experience in mechanical project management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role on large mixed-use or complex commercial/residential developments.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems, building services coordination, and local code requirements.
Proven experience with managing consultants, contractors, and commissioning processes.
Familiarity with BIM and other project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is a plus.
