QUANTITY SURVEYOR – Permanent Opportunity
DIVISION: Building
LOCATION: Bath

We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Building Division and support the delivery of a major student accommodation development in Bath.
This role requires strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to manage and deliver successful building projects. You’ll lead on cost control, value recovery, and commercial reporting, while developing positive relationships with our supply chain and subcontractors. A solid understanding of NEC and JCT contract administration is essential.
Typical Duties Include:
• Establishing the project budget and allocating cost codes for accurate cost reporting
• Reviewing main contract and subcontract T&Cs, including stepping down provisions
• Procuring subcontract packages and preparing tender documentation
• Reporting costs to date and forecasting cost to completion
• Administering main and subcontract agreements, including contractual correspondence
• Liaising with the Employer’s team on commercial matters
• Managing staff resources to ensure effective cost management
• Preparing delay analyses and supporting claim submissions
• Managing subcontract issues as they arise
• Following variation/compensation event procedures to protect commercial interests
• Cash‑flow forecasting and budget preparation
• Working with procurement to set project allowances
• Attending progress and commercial meetings as the commercial representative
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector
• Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
• Skilled in cost forecasting, budgeting, and commercial reporting
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Ability to manage multiple projects with precision and professionalism
Desirable:
• Experience on fast‑paced, high‑value construction projects
• Familiarity with modern construction methods
• Membership with RICS or CIOB
