An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse with West Herts Hospital NHS Trust – on Letchmore Ward.
Letchmore Ward is a 22 bedded medical/surgical ward, with an additional 6 bedded surge area.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, proactive registered nurse, who is committed to providing high quality care and delivering excellence to our patients.
This is a busy and dynamic ward with a high turnover of patients, and you will be part of a highly skilled, motivated hardworking, fun, and caring team.

Main duties of the job
The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse is required to:
1. Provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model.
2. Support the Senior Sister/Charge nurse in driving quality care provision forward.
3. Be responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area in partnership with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Provide clear clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse is required to:
4. Provide a high standard of individualised care to patients and ensure all fundamental aspects of care are effectively delivered.
5. To supervise and teach registered and unregistered nursing staff.
6. To contribute to supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in her/his duties and deputise in their absence.
7. Work closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, Matron, Head of Nursing and Clinicians in embedding the principles of Clinical Governance and Standards for Better Health in order to maintain/improve and develop high standards of patient care, and thereby ensuring that the patients are treated with privacy, dignity, and respect.
8. Place the patient’s experience at the core of service delivery through implementation and Continued monitoring of Essence of Care Standards, Patient Involvement & Experience Strategy and Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
9. Work collaboratively with the PALS and Patient Forums to investigate and resolve patient Concerns/ complaints, working with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in developing action plans and progress development meetings.
10. Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in actively implementing initiatives outlined within the Trust’s local Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and where relevant take the lead for designated projects.
