We’re recruiting for a driven and dedicated Electrician to join our FM team at HMP Fosse Way, a brand new Category C resettlement prison in Leicester with the capacity to house around 1,000 prisoners.
As the FM Electrician, you will carry out fault finding and defect rectification on electrical plant and equipment, perform pre-planned maintenance, and install new plant and apparatus.
You will need to document inspection findings and pursue fault rectifications. While working as part of a close-knit team, you will also be expected to work independently at times. This role is ideally suited to someone starting their Electrician career or seeking to work on-site full-time, reducing extensive travel!
It is important to note that working in such a secure environment can be challenging at times. In return, we offer a supportive and collaborative environment that respects work/life balance and contributes to vital public services in the UK. The role requires participation in an on-call roster, currently about 1 in 8. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with some out-of-hours and weekend work to meet business needs.
What you’ll need to do the job
You must have a C & G Electrical Certificate or other recognised electrical trade qualification, have served a recognised trade apprenticeship, and be qualified to BS 7671 (Current Edition of the IEE Regulations).
You should have at least 5 years of relevant trade experience post-apprenticeship and be willing to undertake additional training to expand your technical abilities if required.
