WE'RE HIRING: NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (NPD) MANAGER
📍 Leeds | Full-time (Part-Time Considered for the right applicant) | Competitive Salary (£45,000 per annum) + Benefits
GET BAKED is expanding, and we’re on the hunt for an experienced NPD Manager to drive product innovation at our production bakery. You’ll be responsible for developing new recipes, refining existing products, and ensuring everything we make can be produced efficiently and profitably at scale — without ever compromising on quality or creativity.
Role Summary
The NPD Manager is responsible for developing new products that push creativity, taste, and quality, while ensuring every recipe works efficiently and profitably at scale. You’ll take ideas, sometimes from Rich Myers (Founder), sometimes entirely your own and turn them into production-ready recipes that look, taste, and feel unmistakably GET BAKED.
You’ll own the recipe development process from concept to launch: writing detailed specifications, managing trials, scaling recipes for volume, and considering every operational implication of production on a large scale. You’ll also play a key role in training, ensuring new products are rolled out consistently and that bakery teams understand the “why” and “how” behind what they’re making.
This is a hands-on creative and technical role that blends artistry with precision — ideal for someone who loves food, loves process, and wants to see their creations enjoyed nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative Development
* Create new recipe concepts both from internal briefs and from your own ideas, aligned with GET BAKED’s brand identity.
* Conduct test bakes and refine recipes for taste, texture, appearance, and efficiency.
* Collaborate with Rich and the Bakery Director to push boundaries while keeping practicality front and centre.
* Keep an eye on emerging trends, ingredients, and techniques that could inspire future products.
Recipe & Specification Management
* Write clear, accurate recipes and production specs including weights, times, temperatures, allergens, and yield data.
* Scale recipes for large-batch production while maintaining product integrity.
* Ensure every recipe is costed accurately and liaised with the finance team for profitability tracking. This includes souring ingredients cheaper where possible, in liaison with our Warehouse & Distribution Manager.
* Maintain up-to-date records for all recipes and specs.
Production Integration
* Work closely with bakery team leaders to trial new products in a live environment.
* Identify and resolve potential production bottlenecks or inefficiencies before launch.
* Provide clear production instructions and SOPs to ensure consistency across all shifts and teams.
* Support the Bakery Ops team to streamline processes and improve efficiency without compromising quality.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
* Regularly review existing products to improve taste, texture, or production efficiency.
* Lead tasting sessions and feedback reviews to maintain brand standards.
* Gather feedback from stores, customers, and the bakery team to refine products post-launch.
* Support compliance with food safety and allergen requirements.
Training & Rollout
* Deliver or coordinate training for bakery staff on new product launches and revised recipes.
* Ensure training materials and SOPs are clear, up-to-date, and accessible.
* Monitor rollout performance to ensure consistent quality and presentation across all sites.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* Successful new product launches in production.
* Recipe accuracy, scalability, and profitability.
* Efficient production integration with minimal waste or disruption.
* Consistent quality and presentation across all batches.
* Positive feedback from customers, bakery teams, and stores.
* Effective training completion and improved operational efficiencies
What We’re Looking For:
* Creative flair with a technical mind — you love experimenting but can also think in spreadsheets.
* Strong understanding of bakery or patisserie processes, from bench to large-scale production.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Confident communicator able to bridge creative ideas with operational reality.
* Experience writing specs and scaling recipes for mass production (preferred).
* A sense of humour and an appreciation for what makes GET BAKED the growing brand that it is
