Speech and Language Therapist Child Development Centre
The role of the Speech and Language Therapist is to workalongside Child Development Centre (CDC) team members providing speech andlanguage therapy support for children referred to the CDC.
This may involve running communication workshops, offering1:1 support or working alongside the Consultant Paediatricians to assess andsupport speech and language needs when families attend clinics at the CDC.
We are a multi-disciplinary team and you will work alongsideother Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, OccupationalTherapists, Educational Psychology, Nurse Practitioners, Nursery Nurses andHealth Care Support workers.
We provide training to support the holistic assessment ofthe children referred to the CDC, so you will become proficient in offeringsupport around sensory, behaviour, sleep and communication needs.
The CDC is currently involved in a backlog project and theteam are working hard to reduce the long waits. We support partnership workingand your views, ideas and care plan ideas will be welcome in our team meetingsand away days.

Main duties of the job
* To be a part of the multi-disciplinary team, to workalongside the highly specialist team of speech and language therapistsassessing children referred to the Child Development Centre
* To provide therapy support /intervention for children withcomplex and severe learning difficulties with additional diagnoses e.g. AutismSpectrum Disorder in the CDC and community settings.
* To develop and deliver the provision of an enhanced speechand language therapy service for children under the care of the ChildDevelopment Centre
* To work in partnership with other members of the CDC teamand partners such as Early Years inclusion outreach, Portage, Sencos andFamily Support Workers.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience working with children with Speech and Language ASD and a range of learning difficulties
* Experience working in school settings
* Experience with working with children with a range of communication difficulties
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of NHS policies and national agendas.
* Current evidence based practice in speech language communication difficulties
* Knowledge SEN code of practice and EHCP processes
* Current evidence based practice for feeding and swallowing difficulties
Qualifications
* Speech and Language Therapy Degree
* HCPC registered
* Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
