A supportive and forward-thinking secondary specialist school in Darwen is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
This school provides tailored education for students with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may display challenging behaviours. The team works hard to remove barriers to learning, create a nurturing environment, and help every student thrive — both academically and emotionally.
The role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage with learning and build the skills they need to succeed. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and therapists to implement strategies that support positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
Key qualities and requirements:
* Experience supporting young people with SEN, Autism and/or SEMH (in school or alternative settings)
* Strong behaviour management strategies and a calm, consistent approach
* Resilience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
